Ex-NY Bar Prez Calls For Legal Action Over Pro Bono Rules

Law360, New York (November 5, 2013, 7:45 PM EST) -- A former New York bar president on Saturday raised the threat of a lawsuit against state court administrators and the state's top judge over changes to pro bono rules at a weekend meeting of policymakers.

Leading calls for resistance to the rules at the New York State Bar Association's House of Delegates meeting Saturday in Albany, former state bar president Robert Ostertag likened the requirement to disclose pro bono hours and contributions to extortion, and called on the bar to consider a lawsuit.
