Senate Bill Would Limit Military Pretrial ‘Abuse’ Of Rape Victims

Law360, New York (November 05, 2013, 7:23 PM ET) -- A bipartisan group of U.S. senators on Tuesday introduced a bill aimed at curbing questioning at military pretrial hearings, a response to recent reports of lawyers’ abusive treatment of rape victims in the armed forces.

The bill would make the military’s so-called Article 32 proceedings resemble pretrial hearings in federal courts, sponsor Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said.
