Texas AG Sues Mobile Phone Network For Cramming Scheme

Law360, Dallas (November 6, 2013, 7:46 PM EST) -- The Texas Attorney General on Wednesday accused four mobile phone companies of a scheme to rack up unauthorized, misleading and deceptive charges on consumer phone bills by sending unwanted text messages in a practice known as cramming.

The state claims Tendenci Media LLC, MDK Media Inc., Bear Communications LLC and Anacapa Media LLC ripped off customers by sending them unauthorized ringtones, horoscopes, celebrity gossip and coupons through premium text messages charged to their monthly cell phone bills.
