Securities Cases To Watch In 2006

Law360, New York (January 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Although 2005 brought the very public downfall of several former executives convicted of fraud, the trend of stiff sentences and harsh penalties shows no sign of letting up in 2006.

Despite last year’s high-profile convictions, securities litigation actually dropped 17% in 2005, according to a survey conducted by CNN.

That decline can be attributed to the cyclical nature of securities litigation, said George A. Schieren, a partner with Clifford Chance’s securities regulatory and white collar litigation practice.
