Pa. PUC Gives Final Nod To $720M Utility Merger

Law360, New York (November 14, 2013, 7:49 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has approved a $720 million settlement that merges Equitable Gas Co. with Peoples Natural Gas Co., two of the Pittsburgh area’s three largest gas utilities, the commission announced on Thursday.

In a unanimous 5-0 vote, the commission approved the PUC Administrative Law Judge’s initial decision, which ruled that the settlement reached between the companies, government agencies, retail gas suppliers, unions and other interested parties was in the public interest.
