11th Circ. Rejects Ex-Fla. Politician's Bribery Appeal

Law360, Miami (November 14, 2013, 9:18 PM ET) -- The Eleventh Circuit on Thursday stood by its previous decision affirming the bribery conviction of a former president of the Florida Senate accused of paying off another official to secure his vote for the purchase of a soccer complex.

In the en banc decision, on remand from the U.S. Supreme Court, the appeals court said a Florida state court had not violated Wyon Dale Childers' rights under the Sixth Amendment by curtailing his ability to cross-examine the state's star witness.
