FCC Open To More Foreign Investment In US Broadcasters

Law360, Los Angeles (November 14, 2013, 4:42 PM EST) -- For the first time since a 1934 law set a 25 percent limit on foreign investment in American broadcast companies, the Federal Communications Commission has eased its policy on the statute, saying Thursday it would consider more foreign dollars on a case-by-case basis.

The commission will consider the implications for national security, law enforcement, foreign policy and trade policy as it reviews the proposals for increased foreign investment in broadcast companies, it said, adding that it would work closely with the president’s administration.
