NY Partners With DOL To Curb Worker Misclassification

Law360, Los Angeles (November 18, 2013, 7:56 PM ET) -- New York on Monday became the 15th state that's agreed to share information and coordinate enforcement efforts with the U.S. Department of Labor to curb the practice of businesses shortchanging employees by misclassifying them as independent contractors.

New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and the New York State Labor Department signed memoranda of understanding with the DOL that will guide efforts to reduce worker misclassification, the agency said Monday.
