Artists Say 5Pointz Building Owners Whitewashed Evidence

Law360, New York (November 19, 2013, 3:12 PM EST) -- Attorneys for the artists who sought to block the demolition of a street art-covered property known as 5Pointz in Queens, N.Y., alleged Tuesday that an overnight whitewashing of the building improperly destroyed evidence in the ongoing copyright case.

A week after a Brooklyn federal judge dissolved a temporary restraining order in the artists' copyright suit seeking to protect the graffiti that covered the building, the owners hired a team of painters to cover it in white paint beginning around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
