Senate Panel OKs Paul Weiss Atty For Homeland Security Post

Law360, New York (November 20, 2013, 5:08 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama's nomination of Jeh Johnson to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security cleared a U.S. Senate committee Wednesday on a voice vote, sending the former Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison LLP partner's nomination to the full Senate.

The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee's approval clears the way for the Senate to consider Johnson's nomination to replace Janet Napolitano, who resigned in July to become the new president of the University of California system.
