USDOT To Require Seat Belts On Large Buses By 2016

Law360, Los Angeles (November 20, 2013, 3:58 PM EST) -- New coach and other large buses must provide seat belts for passengers and drivers beginning in November 2016, according to final rules released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The buses must include three-point lap and shoulder belts for each seat, the DOT’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The rules do not apply to school or transit buses.
