Jury's $70M Fraud Verdict Against Cisco Nixed

Law360, Los Angeles (November 20, 2013, 9:24 PM EST) -- Cisco Systems Inc. escaped a $70 million jury verdict in a patent infringement and trade secrets suit when a Delaware federal judge ruled Wednesday there wasn't enough evidence Cisco had defrauded XpertUniverse Inc. in their call center routing technology joint venture.

Granting Cisco's motion for judgment as a matter of law, U.S. District Judge Richard G. Andrews took issue with a jury's decision in March that Cisco had hidden information during its partnership with XpertUniverse so that it could develop its own rival technology.
