DOJ Wants More Info On $1.1B Louisiana-Pacific Lumber Deal

Law360, Washington (November 21, 2013, 5:36 PM EST) -- Antitrust regulators at the U.S. Department of Justice have requested additional information on Tennessee wood and construction materials company Louisiana-Pacific Corp.'s $1.1 billion purchase of private equity-backed Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd., Ainsworth said Thursday.

That so-called second request under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 will extend the waiting period for Louisiana-Pacific's acquisition until 30 days after the companies have "substantially complied" with the request, pushing the anticipated closing date to the first quarter of 2014, Ainsworth said.
