Ontario Moves To Ban Coal-Fired Power

Law360, New York (November 22, 2013, 3:17 PM ET) -- The head of Ontario's provincial government is moving ahead with plans to eliminate coal as a source of power in the region, floating legislation Thursday that would ban coal use to protect public health and fight climate change.

Standing next to former U.S. vice president and environmental activist Al Gore, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said Thursday that the province is ready to move on to cleaner sources of energy and become the first jurisdiction on the continent to go coal-free.
