NCOIL Takes A Stand For State Insurance Regulators

Law360, New York (November 24, 2013, 2:47 PM EST) -- The executive committee of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators on Sunday formally requested that state insurance regulators be given deference in international insurance policy discussions, a protest against greater federal encroachment in the oversight of insurers.

At an annual meeting, NCOIL's executive committee approved a resolution expressing the group's support for keeping U.S. insurance regulation in the hands of states. The measure headed to the executive committee after receiving unanimous backing from NCOIL's international committee.
