Senate Confirms DC Circ. Judge Under New Rules

Law360, Washington (December 10, 2013, 1:17 PM ET) -- The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed Patricia A. Millett as a judge on the D.C. Circuit, marking the first judicial appointment approval under the Senate's new filibuster rules.

In a 56-38 vote, Senate Democrats pushed Millett's long-stalled confirmation through a vote Tuesday morning, just weeks after they reduced the 60-vote approval requirement of executive nominees to 51 votes after three of the Obama administration's D.C. Circuit nominations were blocked by Republican filibusters.
