Background Check Co. Demands Chubb Cover FCRA Deal

Law360, New York (November 27, 2013, 3:11 PM ET) -- Consumer reporting agency General Information Services Inc. sued a pair of Chubb Group insurers in Pennsylvania on Monday over their refusal to cover the settlement of a long-running class action accusing it of illegally divulging arrest record information to a potential employer.

The lawsuit, which spurred GIS to mount a constitutional challenge to the Fair Credit Reporting Act and prompted the intervention of the federal government, was tentatively shut down under a preliminary settlement between plaintiff Shamara King and GIS earlier this month. While Chubb units...
