Judge OKs Examiner With Limited Role In Asarco Case

Law360, New York (March 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has gone along with the request of the parent company of bankrupt mining company Asarco Inc. and appointed an examiner in the case, but the judge did not assign the examiner any duties for now.

In an order filed Tuesday, Judge Richard Schmidt of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas said he had established that appointing an examiner in the case is mandatory.
