Telcos Locked in Litigation Over GPS Feature

Law360, New York (January 9, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A little-known telecommunications company is aiming to twist the arm of the wireless phone industry by suing cell phone service providers over patents for a potentially lifesaving “911” emergency location feature.

Against the objections of the company, District Judge Leonard David has transferred the case from the Eastern District of Texas, reputed as a plaintiffs-friendly venue, to the District Court of Northern California.
