Obama Orders Agencies To Boost Renewable Energy Use

Law360, Chicago (December 05, 2013, 4:04 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama on Thursday continued his second-term push to tackle climate change, ordering federal agencies to increase the portion of their electricity derived from renewable energy nearly three-fold over the next six years.

As part of the Climate Action Plan he unveiled in June, Obama sent an order to the heads of every executive department and agency with instructions to expand their use of renewable energy to 20 percent of total electricity consumed by 2020, up from just 7 percent in 2013.
