Treasury Report Knocks IRS For Spending, Privacy Issues

Law360, New York (December 9, 2013, 6:04 PM ET) -- The Internal Revenue Service is under some of the most intense scrutiny it has ever experienced amid questions about its data security and spending efficiency, according to a Treasury Department report released Monday.

The report, which covers the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration’s already-published findings from April through September, reinforced the watchdog’s conclusion that the IRS needs to do more to protect taxpayer data in a changing world.
