HCA Escapes Whistleblower Suit Over Medicare Billing

Law360, Chicago (December 10, 2013, 5:43 PM EST) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday tossed a whistleblower suit accusing Hospital Corp. of America Inc. of grievous Medicare and Medicaid billing violations after the plaintiff, a former executive at an HCA hospital in Florida, decided to drop her claims.

U.S. District Judge James D. Whittemore signed a one-page order dismissing the False Claims Act suit without prejudice, three days after relator Brenda Farnsworth filed a notice indicating she wanted to end the case voluntarily.
