Duke Submits $1B Crystal River Nuke Plant Takedown Plan

Law360, New York (December 10, 2013, 3:02 PM EST) -- Duke Energy filed a $1.18 billion plan with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, to take down its Crystal River nuclear power plant in Florida, the company said Monday.

The company selected the SAFSTOR option approved by the NRC, in which the plant will be mothballed for 60 years until it's finally demolished in 2074.
