China Issues 1st National Climate Change Adaptation Plan

Law360, New York (December 10, 2013, 3:20 PM ET) -- The Chinese government released a climate change adaptation strategy for the first time Monday, calling on provinces, cities and national agencies to adjust their management strategies to better protect the country from the effects of global warming.

The National Development and Reform Commission stressed that expected global temperature increases could “bring irreversible damage” to both the global ecosystem and the worldwide economy, and that current adaptation efforts have been generally weak.
