$160M Deal To End Merrill Race Bias Suit Gets Final OK

Law360, New York (December 11, 2013, 6:14 PM ET) -- The Illinois federal judge overseeing a class action accusing Bank of America Corp.'s Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. subsidiary of discriminating against black financial advisers gave final approval Friday to a $160 million settlement resolving the case.

The deal — which was announced in August and won preliminary approval in September  — got the final approval from U.S. District Judge Robert W. Gettleman, whose order approving the settlement called it “fair, reasonable and adequate, and well within the range of final approval.”
