Wis. Governor OKs Bill Upping Historic-Building Tax Credit

Law360, New York (December 11, 2013, 2:09 PM EST) -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on Wednesday signed legislation doubling the state's tax credit for the restoration of historic buildings, which he said provides an added incentive for developers to refurbish downtown areas throughout the state.

The bill increases the state's historic tax credit from 10 percent to 20 percent for buildings constructed prior to 1936. Wisconsin's credit supplements an existing federal tax credit that can be applied to expenses for restoring historic buildings.
