Chicago, New York Crowned Kings Of Travel Taxation

Law360, New York (December 11, 2013, 3:50 PM ET) -- Taxes levied on travel-related services increased U.S. travelers' tax bills by 58 percent in 2013, with Chicago and New York leading the taxation pack, a Global Business Travel Association report said Tuesday.

The study examined hotel lodging, car rentals and restaurant meal taxes in the top 50 U.S. destination cities, ultimately warning local governments against harming regular business travelers by hiking up travel-related taxes to pay for unrelated city expenses.
