FTC OKs Settlement With Actavis Over Warner Chilcott Buy

Law360, New York (December 11, 2013, 6:34 PM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission finalized the settlement of its antitrust case over Actavis Inc.'s $8.5 billion acquisition of Warner Chilcott PLC, after Actavis agreed to divest three oral contraceptives and an osteoporosis treatment to a New Jersey-based pharmaceuticals manufacturer, the FTC said Wednesday.

The commission voted 4-0 to approve a final order last week dropping its charges that the tie-up, forming the third largest specialty pharmaceutical company in the country, would hurt competition in the markets for the four drugs, which are now to be produced...
