Senate Extends Feldblum's EEOC Tenure Through 2018

Law360, New York (December 12, 2013, 4:18 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate voted Thursday to confirm Chai Feldblum, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's first openly lesbian commissioner, to serve a second term at the agency, extending her tenure to the summer of 2018.

Thursday morning's 54-41 vote split largely along party lines, with Feldblum picking up just two Republican votes from Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and five senators — three Democrats and two Republicans — not voting. Feldblum's second term as commissioner is slated to end on July 1, 2018....
