NYC Prof. Settles Patent Claims Over LED Technology

Law360, New York (March 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Columbia University professor has settled infringement claims against Philips Lumileds Lighting Company LLC over patents related to the technology used to create light-emitting diodes, or LEDs, found in a range of common electronic devices.

Attorneys for the plaintiff, Professor Gertrude Neumark Rothschild, announced the settlement Monday. The terms of the agreement are confidential, Sidley Austin LLP said in a statement.
