Apple Puts Aussie Watchdog's Product Defect Worries To Bed

Law360, New York (December 18, 2013, 1:46 PM EST) -- Apple Inc. on Tuesday resolved the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's concerns that the company offered inadequate coverage under Australian law for malfunctioning products, expanding its consumer remedies beyond existing warranty and return policies.

The ACCC said that Apple signed a court-enforceable agreement after an investigation revealed that its repair, refund and replacement remedies for defective products were not always up to snuff with the Australian Consumer Law, a 2011 measure holding product manufacturers to certain statutory consumer guarantees.
