Dallas Appeals Court Denies Rehearing In $1B Back Pay Row

Law360, Washington (December 18, 2013, 6:29 PM EST) -- A Dallas appeals court on Tuesday declined to review en banc a decision allowing a group of city police officers and firefighters to continue their case alleging the city owes them $1 billion in back pay under a public safety ordinance passed by Dallas in 1979.

The Texas Fifth Court of Appeals in Dallas declined the city’s rehearing petition in a one-page order, according to court records. The city is appealing a trial court's order saying the city isn't immune from the suit.
