Sen. Baucus Named Ambassador To China, Reports Say

Law360, New York (December 19, 2013, 5:46 PM ET) -- White House officials would neither confirm nor deny reports that President Barack Obama will nominate Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus to serve as the next ambassador to China, a move that would jeopardize a series of tax reforms Baucus has proposed over the past month.

Baucus’ office also did not respond to a request to either confirm or deny the reports, which came as Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, the Finance Committee’s top Republican, told reporters that the move was a “done deal.”
