Senate Passes $633B Defense Authorization Act

Law360, Washington (December 20, 2013, 5:35 PM ET) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday passed a nearly $633 billion defense authorization bill for 2014 that provides additional protections for military whistleblowers and against sexual assault, among other measures, sending it to President Barack Obama's desk.

The bill, the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act, authorizes $552.1 billion in defense spending in fiscal year 2014 across the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy, which is responsible for certain nuclear weapons programs.
