Chevron, BP, Others Dumped La. Pipeline Waste, Parish Says

Law360, Los Angeles (December 19, 2013, 4:04 PM ET) -- Chevron USA Inc., BP Production Co. and other oil and gas companies dumped toxic waste from their drilling operations into Louisiana coastal waters and failed to obtain permits for dredging some canals, according to a coastal parish's lawsuit removed to federal court Thursday.

Plaquemines Parish sued the companies in November and claimed the companies discharged oil field waste directly into the water in violation of the Louisiana State and Local Coastal Resources Management Act of 1978.
