Treasury Signs 6 More FATCA Agreements

Law360, New York (December 19, 2013, 5:41 PM ET) -- Malta, the Netherlands, Bermuda and three islands known as Crown dependencies — Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man — have become the latest jurisdictions to pledge tax transparency under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced Thursday.

Intergovernmental agreements signed by the jurisdictions promise the exchange of taxpayer financial information designed to halt offshore tax evasion, and the pacts now bring the total number of FATCA intergovernmental agreements to 18.
