EU Blesses Google-DoubleClick Marriage

Law360, New York (March 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Ending months of anticipation, the European Union's competition watchdog gave its blessing Tuesday to Google Inc.'s takeover of online advertising giant DoubleClick Inc., after concluding that the $3.1 billion union is unlikely to harm consumers.

The European Commission said its in-depth market investigation had found that Google and DoubleClick were not exerting major competitive constraints on each other's activities and couldn't be considered competitors at the moment.
