Five Cell Phone Cos. Sued Over Smartphone Patent

Law360, New York (March 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Several mobile phone giants, including Nokia Corp. and Motorola Inc., were recently targeted by small digital media company Aloft Media LLC, which sued them for allegedly infringing on its patent for a method to transfer contact information using a cellular phone.

Aloft filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on March 6. In addition to Nokia and Motorola, the suit names Palm Inc., Research in Motion Ltd. and Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Inc. as defendants.
