USPTO Finds Stem Cell Patents Valid: Geron

Law360, New York (March 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Upon closer inspection of two patents covering human embryonic stem cells, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has concluded that the inventions, exclusively licensed to Geron Corp., are valid, Geron announced Tuesday.

The biopharmaceutical firm, based in Menlo Park, Calif., said the PTO will issue ex parte re-examination certificates for the two patents related to preparations of stem cells and methods of isolating them.
