1st Circ. OKs $100K Attys' Fee Award For $7K Age Bias Win

Law360, New York (December 20, 2013, 1:56 PM ET) -- The First Circuit on Wednesday upheld a fee and cost award of over $100,000 to attorneys who won a $7,650 jury verdict for a former executive housekeeper at a Massachusetts Holiday Inn Hotel on a state law age-discrimination claim.

The appeals court rejected Jiten Hotel Management Inc.'s argument that the district court erred by failing to calibrate the amount of the fee award to the amount of the damages obtained by former employee Carmen Llerena Diaz.
