2012 Highmark-UPMC Deal Approved, Suits To Be Dropped

Law360, New York (December 20, 2013, 4:29 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Friday ordered the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and insurer Highmark Inc. to dismiss their dueling antitrust lawsuits and agreed to enforce a settlement agreement they reached in 2012.

The antitrust suits have been ongoing since 2009, when West Penn Allegheny Health System Inc. accused UPMC and Highmark of attempting to stifle competition.
