SAC Manager Martoma's Request To Delay Trial Denied

Law360, New York (December 20, 2013, 4:48 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge refused to put off the trial of SAC Capital Advisors LP portfolio manager Mathew Martoma, who's accused of trading on inside information about an Alzheimer's medication, denying on Friday a request from Martoma's defense.

U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe turned down the request for an adjournment at a conference Friday morning in Manhattan federal court. The trial is scheduled to start Jan. 6.

A spokeswoman for prosecutors confirmed that the adjournment had been denied.
