Certain Medicaid Waivers Excludable From Income, IRS Says

Law360, New York (January 03, 2014, 7:01 PM ET) -- Individuals who receive state Medicaid waivers to provide foster care services for relatives may now exclude those payments from their income, according to a notice released by the Internal Revenue Service on Friday.

Some state foster care programs compensate individuals who provide foster care services to their relatives, but Medicaid waiver programs generally do not if the caregivers in question are legally responsible for their charges.
