O'Reilly Media Says Tech Co. Nabbed 'Strata' Mark

Law360, New York (January 03, 2014, 8:21 PM ET) -- O'Reilly Media Inc. accused a cloud computing startup of stealing a trademark it has long used in connection with technology publications and conferences for use as its business name, according to a suit filed in Michigan federal court Friday.

Strata Big Data allegedly told O'Reilly it had a "weak" and "untenable" case when the publishing and consulting company's executives said they owned the rights to "Strata," and the use of that mark by another company in the field of large-scale data management would probably cause confusion....
