Valero, Affiliates Pay $17.5M To Settle NJ Pollution Suit

Law360, New York (January 6, 2014, 2:53 PM EST) -- Valero Energy Corp. and several of its affiliates have agreed to pay $17.5 million to settle claims that it was responsible for contaminating New Jersey’s water supply with a gasoline additive, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection announced Monday.

According to a notice in the New Jersey Register, the DEP accepted the collective settlement from Valero Energy, Valero Marketing and Supply Co., Valero Refining Co.-New Jersey, Valero Refining and Marketing Co., Ultramar Energy, Ultramar Ltd. and the Premcor Refining Group Inc., which the state had accused...
