NJ Senate OKs Bill To Require Coverage Of Pain Meds

Law360, New York (January 7, 2014, 7:19 PM EST) -- A New Jersey Senate committee on Monday advanced a bill that would facilitate patient access to prescription pain medications by requiring health insurance providers to cover them without requiring the patient to try less-expensive treatments first.

The New Jersey Senate’s Budget and Appropriations Committee advanced A-1832, which would require health insurers provide coverage for prescription pain medications under every policy that includes coverage of outpatient prescription drugs.
