Philly Utility Reaches $2M Settlement Of Overbilling Claims

Law360, Philadelphia (January 7, 2014, 1:31 PM EST) -- The city of Philadelphia and city-owned utility Philadelphia Gas Works have reached a $2.3 million settlement with a PGW contractor in response to claims that they were overbilled for construction materials used in paving jobs, the city announced Tuesday.

Danella Cos. Inc., based in suburban Philadelphia, has agreed to make payments both to the city and to PGW beyond the $1.75 million that it allegedly overcharged, but it denies all wrongdoing. The settlement was signed Dec. 23.
