1st Circ. Backs Couple's Tax Fraud Convictions

Law360, New York (January 07, 2014, 9:40 PM ET) -- The First Circuit on Tuesday affirmed tax fraud convictions of a husband and wife who participated in a scheme utilizing front-companies to evade paying employee payroll taxes and a banking service to shield their finances from the Internal Revenue Service.

The appeals court said there was enough evidence presented at trial for a jury to convict Catherine Floyd and her husband William Scott Dion on a variety of tax charges. The First Circuit also backed the district court's prison sentences of five years and seven years...
