Lockheed Wins $574M DOD Contract For Navy, Missile Defense

Law360, New York (January 7, 2014, 5:59 PM EST) -- Lockheed Martin Corp. has won a $574 million contract from the U.S. government for certain weapons systems for the U.S. Navy and Missile Defense Agency that includes a number of destroyers, the defense contractor announced Tuesday.

The contract will involve the production of seven Lockheed destroyers along with the option for one Aegis Ashore assembly, a weapon system meant to help expand the use of the Aegis Combat System further inland, according to a statement by the Bethesda, Md.-based defense giant.
