Sen. Blumenthal Slams United Healthcare Bid To Boot Docs

Law360, New York (January 10, 2014, 4:26 PM EST) -- Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., on Thursday backed some 2,000 doctors in the state challenging United Healthcare Group’s attempt to terminate them from its Medicare Advantage plan, urging the Second Circuit to uphold a lower court’s preliminary injunction against the move.

United Healthcare’s move would immediately disrupt patients’ treatment with those doctors, a situation the preliminary injunction is keeping at bay, Blumenthal argued in an amicus brief that supports the Fairfield County Medical Association and the Hartford County Medical Association Inc.
